Have you ever wondered what you’d be doing if you weren’t in your current field? For me, the answer is simple—I’d probably be a scriptwriter.

There’s something magical about storytelling. Writing stories and movie scripts offers a chance to dive deep into imagination, craft outcomes, and evoke emotions in ways that feel almost instinctive. The idea of shaping how people feel and react through words has always fascinated me. It’s a form of design—one that plays with emotions, pacing, and narrative structure to create an immersive experience.

Interestingly, I’ve realized how similar this is to UX and product design. At their core, both storytelling and design are about crafting an experience. One uses words and visuals to bring characters to life, while the other uses interactions and interfaces to guide users through a digital journey.

As a designer, my artboard becomes my script, where I map out user journeys much like a screenwriter outlines a storyline. Just as a compelling script guides viewers through emotions, tension, and resolution, UX design is about understanding users, anticipating their needs, and designing solutions that not only solve problems but also evoke feelings—delight, trust, and satisfaction.

Every decision, from the placement of a button to the flow of an onboarding process, has the power to influence how someone feels and interacts. Much like a well-crafted film can leave a lasting impression, a seamless digital experience can shape how users perceive and engage with a product.

Ultimately, whether it’s a story on a screen or an experience on an app, the goal remains the same: to connect, engage, and leave an impact. For me, being a UX/product designer allows me to live out that same creative passion—bringing ideas to life and shaping how people interact with the world. And in many ways, design is just another form of storytelling.
